Built to Last. Designed to
Leave Less Behind.

Sustainability at Absolute Zero Refrigeration isn't a policy statement. It's in the systems we specify, the materials we use, and the decisions we make on every project.

A Guiding Principle,
Not a Checkbox

We joined the Sustainable Business Network because we believe the way businesses operate matters — and refrigeration businesses, in particular, carry real responsibility. The systems we design and install will run for decades, consuming energy, handling refrigerants, and touching the operations of clients who often have their own environmental commitments to meet.

That responsibility shapes how we work. From the components we specify to the way we manage waste on site, we look for the most responsible option that still delivers the performance our clients need.

How We Put It Into Practice

Energy-Efficient System Design

Every system we design is optimised for the long term, not just the commissioning day. We prioritise energy-efficient equipment, intelligent controls, and designs that minimise unnecessary load. For our clients, this means lower running costs and a smaller environmental footprint — and for the systems themselves, it typically means a longer working life.

Responsible Waste and Materials Management

Our workshop and project sites run to comprehensive recycling and waste management protocols. Materials are reused where possible, repurposed where practical, and disposed of responsibly when neither is an option. We select components with longevity in mind, which means fewer replacements and less waste over the life of the system.

Sustainable Business Network Membership

Absolute Zero Refrigeration is a member of the Sustainable Business Network — a community of New Zealand businesses committed to operating more responsibly. Membership reflects an ongoing commitment, not a one-time certification. We stay connected to better practice, emerging standards, and the broader business community working toward the same goals.

Natural Refrigerants:
The Low-Emission Choice

Ammonia and CO are natural refrigerants with significantly lower global warming ₂potential than conventional synthetic alternatives. They're also technically demanding to work with — which is part of why many contractors don't offer them.

Absolute Zero Refrigeration does. Our industrial refrigeration team has the expertise to design, install, and service ammonia and CO systems, giving clients who are serious about emissions ₂reduction a credible technical path to get there.

Meeting Your
Sustainability Goals

Many of our clients are themselves working toward energy targets, emissions reductions, or ESG commitments. We understand that, and we build it into how we approach projects for them — whether that's specifying lower-emission refrigerants, optimising existing system performance, or future-proofing installations against regulatory change.

Sustainable refrigeration doesn't mean a trade-off on performance. Done properly, it means systems that cost less to run, last longer, and stand up better under scrutiny.
