What does a refrigeration maintenance plan from Absolute Zero Refrigeration include?
Every plan is site-specific, but typically includes: scheduled preventative servicing at defined intervals, documented inspection and service reports, system performance monitoring, proactive identification of components approaching end of life, and access to our 24/7 emergency line. We don’t offer a generic package — the scope is developed around your systems and operating requirements.
Can Absolute Zero Refrigeration overhaul our existing compressor rather than replace it?
In many cases, yes. Absolute Zero Refrigeration is one of a small number of companies in New Zealand with the in-house capability to carry out a full industrial compressor overhaul — from strip-down and rebuild through to reinstallation and commissioning. Depending on the condition of the unit, an overhaul can restore full functionality at significantly lower cost than replacement, and often faster than waiting on a new unit. We’ll assess the compressor honestly and tell you which path makes sense.
What does 24/7 emergency support mean in practice?
It means there’s a number to call outside business hours, and someone who knows what they’re doing will answer it. Response times will depend on the nature of the fault and location, but we treat refrigeration breakdowns in operational environments as urgent — because we understand the cost of every hour a system is down.
Are you Site Safe and Impac prequalified?
Yes. AZR holds Site Safe accreditation and Impac prequalification. We also operate a fully digitalised H&S management system and engage an independent H&S consultant to ensure ongoing compliance. For clients whose procurement process requires prequalified contractors, we meet those requirements.
How often should industrial refrigeration systems be serviced?
It depends on the system, the load it’s under, the refrigerant used, and the operational environment. As a general principle, industrial refrigeration plant should be serviced at least annually at a minimum — with more frequent intervals for high-criticality or high-load systems, or those using natural refrigerants like ammonia. We’ll recommend a schedule based on what’s actually in place on your site.
Can Absolute Zero Refrigeration take over maintenance of a system you didn’t install?
Yes. We take on maintenance of existing plant regularly — including systems installed by other contractors. We’ll carry out an initial assessment to understand what’s in place, identify any immediate concerns, and build a maintenance plan from there. We’ll always be straightforward about what we find.
Do you work outside Auckland?
Our primary service area is greater Auckland and the Waikato. For larger maintenance contracts or compressor work in other regions, we’re happy to discuss scope and logistics directly.
